Pole Fitness FAQ

You probably have loads of questions before starting! Am I too old? What do I wear? Should I lose weight first? How do I book? Will I be able to do it? Where are you? How do the classes work?

We’ve added the main queries people have. If your question is not listed here you can always contact us for more details.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO CLASSES?

Shorts are best! Yes I can hear your sighs from here! They will really help you as skin contact with the pole is needed, and shorts allow you to spread your weight with both your arms and legs. Making it much easier as you’re not just relying on your arms and hands! Stretchy material is best so that you have a good range of movement. If you refuse to wear shorts you can have some loose fitting pants rolled up to above your knee. A vest top or t-shirt is great for the top half! Plus bare feet or grip socks for your feet. Moisturiser is also not to be worn as you’ll slip and please do not wear jewellery as this can damage the equipment and your jewellery.

WHY CAN I NOT APPLY MOISTURISER?

These are never fully absorbed into the skin; it will transfer onto the equipment during use and will interfere with yours as well as other students grip.

HOW DO THE BEGINNER COURSES WORK?

At the end of your pole dancing 6 week beginner course you receive a certificate and have lots of photo opportunities throughout your course to show your loved ones. You can then enter the intermediate stage and enjoy many more pole dancing classes in our Manchester studio before you go onto the advanced! See More

WILL I BE ABLE TO DO IT?

Of course! Some people do find it a little harder but everyone gets there in the end!

WHAT TYPE OF PERSON COMES TO YOUR CLASS?

Pole Sessions classes are open to all women, no matter your age (as long as you are over 16), classes are made up of all different shapes, sizes, ages and fitness levels, so you are sure to fit in!

WHY DO I HAVE TO REMOVE MY JEWELLERY?

Jewellery will impair your grip. Also, the pole equipment are specialised and expensive, jewellery damages them. Your jewellery will also become damaged and/or bent.

AM I TOO OLD?

You are never too old to learn new skills. This is a fitness class and is open to everyone. There is no upper age limit. At Pole Sessions we have even taught women in their 70’s, and many ages come to our other fitness classes.

HOW MANY PEOPLE COME TO CLASSES?

We never have more than three to a pole, its mainly two to a pole though. With 3 instructors so you get plenty of pole time! We always give an extra 15 minutes at the end of class to!

IS POLE FITNESS SAFE?

Your instructor is an experienced, professional aerialist with knowledge of how to break down its elements and teach them safely and correctly. As with any sporting activity, injury can occur. Aerial Fitness can intensify existing injuries, especially back, neck and joints problems. Therefore, should this apply to you, it is advised that you seek medical advice before joining the class.
The classes are progressive and flexible enough to be able to adjust to individual needs.
