Aerial Fitness FAQ


You probably have loads of questions before starting! Am I too old? What do I wear? Should I lose weight first? How do I book? Will I be able to do it? Where are you? How do the classes work?

We’ve added the main queries people have. If your question is not listed here you can always contact us for more details.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO CLASSES?

A long sleeved top with no buttons or zips and leggings with no buttons or zips! Also bring socks for your feet
Moisturiser is also not to be worn as you’ll slip and please do not wear jewellery as this can damage the equipment and your jewellery.

WHY CAN I NOT APPLY MOISTURISER?

These are never fully absorbed into the skin; it will transfer onto the equipment during use and will interfere with yours as well as other students grip.

WHAT TYPE OF PERSON COMES TO YOUR CLASS?

Pole Sessions classes are open to all women, no matter your age (as long as you are over 16), classes are made up of all different shapes, sizes, ages and fitness levels, so you are sure to fit in!

WHY DO I HAVE TO REMOVE MY JEWELLERY?

Jewellery will impair your grip. Also, the aerial equipment are specialised and expensive, jewellery damages them. Your jewellery will also become damaged and/or bent.

AM I TOO OLD?

You are never too old to learn new skills. This is a fitness class and is open to everyone. There is no upper age limit. At Pole Sessions we have even taught women in their 70’s, and many ages come to our other fitness classes.

HOW MANY PEOPLE COME TO CLASSES?

We never have more than 12 in each class with 2 instructors so you get plenty of aerial time! If the class is full we will give you extra time at the end of the lesson.

WHEN ARE YOUR NEXT BEGINNER COURSES?

You can start any of the classes anytime! We will give you moves to suit your level.

THERE’S NO WAY I CAN LIFT MY BODY WEIGHT! CAN I STILL DO IT?

Pole Sessions will help you learn and build your strength. Aerial Fitness is about more than just tricks. It is a workout and dance form that every woman can practice. Our beginner courses are tried and tested and are developed to build your strength each time you come, many people see their strength has doubled in just three weeks!

I’M PREGNANT / JUST HAD A BABY, CAN I STILL COME TO CLASS?

Aerial Fitness is unsuitable if you are pregnant or if you have very recently given birth. Please check with your doctor if you are unsure. We usually say wait a few months after your baby has been born to start Aerial, please as your midwife.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

HOW LONG IS EACH CLASS?

Each class is for one hour, although if the class is full we will allow extra time so everyone has more time. Classes usually run around 60 minutes to 75 minutes.

IS AERIAL FITNESS SAFE?

Your instructor is an experienced, professional aerialist with knowledge of how to break down its elements and teach them safely and correctly. As with any sporting activity, injury can occur. Aerial Fitness can intensify existing injuries, especially back, neck and joints problems. Therefore, should this apply to you, it is advised that you seek medical advice before joining the class.
The classes are progressive and flexible enough to be able to adjust to individual needs.

CAN I COME ALONE?

Of course you can! Most women come to class alone. It’s also a great place to meet new friends!

WHY SHOULD I DO A COURSE, RATHER THAN SINGLE CLASSES?

The beginner course is designed to build strength each week. So you’ll get much more out of it if you come each week! Plus it’s cheaper!

WHAT HAPPENS IF I MISS A CLASS?

If you know that you will miss a class before the course starts, we will be able to accommodate you. It is not advisable, as the course progresses from week to week. If you fail to inform us you will lose your lesson. We are very reasonable at Pole Sessions, if you can’t attend just let us know! We can swap your day or catch you up and add one onto the end!

CAN I REPEAT A COURSE?

Yes, of course you can. The courses follow a syllabus that is flexible enough to accommodate this. Every group dynamic is different. Pole Sessions will give you an opportunity to polish off all your moves!

I’VE NOT BEEN FOR AGES, CAN I COME BACK?

Of course! Just come back and we’ll help you get back to where you was at!

I’M FROM ANOTHER STUDIO CAN I JOIN YOURS?

Yes of course you are! We welcome all new students.

WHERE CAN I FIND CLASS PHOTOS?

We add all our class photos into a private group on Facebook! If you attend the classes already, you can find the PHOTOS HERE

I WORK SHIFTS… CAN I STILL JOIN?

Of course! Just explain on your first day or when you book your classes and we will change days around for you!

SHOULD I LOSE WEIGHT BEFORE COMING?

No! You will lose weight and tone your body as you do the pole dancing lessons! You also do not need to build any strength as the beginner course is designed to build your strength each time you come! See Results
