Question 1: What should I wear to classes?
It is recommended that you wear workout shorts and vest top or t-shirt, as skin contact with the pole is needed. Stretchy material is best so that you have a good range of movement. Moisturiser is also not to be worn and please do not wear jewellery as this can damage the poles and your jewellery.
Question 2: Why can’t I apply moisturiser or tan before coming to class?
These are never fully absorbed into the skin; it will transfer onto the pole during use and will interfere with yours as well as other students grip. It makes the pole slippery and therefore dangerous.
Question 3: What shoes do I wear?
Most classes are taken with bare feet, although some people do wear trainers or pump style shoes. You will have the opportunity to wear heels later if you want. Please check your class information for more information.
Question 4: Who comes to classes?
Pole Sessions classes are open to all women, no matter your age (as long as you are over 18), classes are made up of all different shapes, sizes, ages and fitness levels, so you are sure to fit in!
Question 5: Why do I have to remove jewellery?
Metal against metal impairs your grip. Also, the poles are specialised equipment, jewellery damages them. (Your jewellery may also become damaged).
Question 6: Am I too old?
You are never too old to learn new skills. A sensual woman is ageless. This is a fitness class and is open to everyone. There is no upper age limit. At Pole Sessions we have even taught women in their 70’s to do pole fitness, and many ages come to our other fitness classes.
Question 7: How many women attend each class?
We never have more than 30 in each class with 3 instructors so you get plenty of pole time! If the class is full we will give you extra pole time at the end of the lesson.
Question 8: Will I have to strip?
Unless we are talking about your coat, No. Nudity is not allowed at classes.
Question 9: I don’t think I can lift my bodyweight. Is it for me?
Pole Sessions will help you learn and build your strength. Pole dancing is about more than just tricks. It is a workout and dance form that every woman can practice. Our beginner courses are tried and tested and are developed to build your strength each time you come, many people see their strength has doubled in just one week!
Question 10: I am pregnant / just given birth. Can I still come to class?
Pole dancing is unsuitable if you are pregnant or if you have very recently given birth. Please check with your doctor if you are unsure. We usually say wait a few months after your baby has been born to start pole fitness, please as your midwife.
Question 11: How much does it cost?
The beginner’s course is £39 to be paid in full before or on the day the course begins.
- Advanced classes are £8 per lesson or £35 for 6 lessons if paid up front or £30 with your loyalty card.
- Private Lessons are £25 – £35 per person per hour. Discounts will be given for group bookings.
Please see our prices page for more fitness class pricing.
Question 12: How long does each class last?
Each class is for one hour, although if the class is full we will allow extra time so everyone has more pole time. Classes usually run around 75 minutes to 90 minutes in intermediate and advanced.
Question 13: Are men allowed?
Classes are for women only.
Question 14: Is pole dancing safe?
Your instructor is an experienced, professional (non-nude) pole dancer with knowledge of how to break down its elements and teach them safely and correctly.
As with any sporting activity, injury can occur. Pole dancing can intensify existing injuries, especially back, neck and joints problems. Therefore, should this apply to you, it is advised that you seek medical advice before joining the class.
The classes are progressive and flexible enough to be able to adjust to individual needs.
Question 15: What are the rules?
In order to secure a place, payment must be made in advance.
Please do not drink alcohol before coming to class.
Please do not apply moisturiser, oil, lotion or tan to your body on the morning of class (alternatively shower before you come to class).
All students must complete a disclaimer form and state any relevant medical conditions.
No responsibility will be taken for students deliberately ignoring these or behaving in a dangerous way. In extreme cases, you may be asked to leave.
Classes are open to women over 18.
Please remove rings, bracelets and watches.
No negative comments about self or others in class. Only positive comments, such as; “Wow, you look really good with that move”.
Question 16: My friends can’t come after all, can I still come alone?
Of course you can! Most women come to class alone. It’s also a great place to meet new friends!
Question 17: Can I purchase gift vouchers for lessons?
Yes. You can purchase a course, private lessons or group session for a friend or loved one (redeemable within 3 months).
Question 18: Why do I have to pay in full? Can’t I just pay as I go along?
There are a limited number of spaces per class. In order to secure your place, payment must be in full. The classes in the beginners are structured and progress from week to week. Intermediate and Advanced classes are drop in and the missed classes will roll over as long as you let us know!
Question 19: Why is a deposit needed for parties?

Question 20: What happens if I know I will miss a class during the course?
If you know that you will miss a class before the course starts, we will be able to accommodate you. It is not advisable, as the course progresses from week to week. If you fail to inform us you will lose your lesson.
Question 21: How do I get a refund?
Your session fee will be refunded in full if you give two weeks written notice prior to the start of the course. 50% of the session fee will be refunded if you give less than two weeks written notice prior to the start of the course. 25% of the session fee will be refunded if you give less than one week’s written notice prior to the start of the course. Less than 48hrs written notice prior to the start of your session, your course fee will be forfeited.

Question 35: Why did you create Pole Sessions?
Its is a sad story really… my grandmother was ill in hospital and Britain’s Got Talent was playing and there was a pole dancer on, she said I should always follow my dreams and open a school. Sadly she passed away a week later and in her memory I opened Pole Sessions as a personal mission to help women become more confident and healthy.
Question 36: Why are Aerial Hoop / Silks only available to Pole Sessions Students?
Due to the popularity of aerial hoop and silks courses, limited space available and our prices as we keep everything as low as possible, aerial silks is only open to the girls who do Pole Fitness at Pole Sessions. Please contact us and we will see if there are any places left in the classes.

At our Leigh Studio there is a car park at the back of the building. Sometimes this is full though and you can use the street!
Question 39: Should I get the beginner course or a single lesson?
Currently at our Leigh studio we are only taking on students with the beginner course as there is a waiting list for the classes. Question 41: Can I just turn up?
No! All classes are prebook only. You wouldn’t like it if you booked and people just turned up making the class to busy. We try to keep the classes as small as possible so you get more time on the pole or in your fitness class. Read how to book
