Yoga Classes in Manchester
Wednesday 8pm – 75 Minutes
There are two types of Yoga Classes available at Pole Sessions Manchester
Core Energy – Wednesday 8pm
Core Energy Vinyasa is a dynamic class suitable for “strong beginners”. You don’t need to have any previous experience in yoga, but it helps if you are somewhat physically active (don’t worry, you don’t need to be an athlete or a “super-yogi”!).
The class builds strength and flexibility and will offer variations to some postures. The class focuses on moving from the core, keeping the body flexible while supported. Great class for anyone who wishes to strengthen their body whilst moving in a meditative flow. If you are up for surprises, challenges and having fun, this class is for you!
Flow and Stretch –
Flow & Stretch Yoga is a deep stretching class, which combines yin yoga, PNF (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation) and Meridian yoga. The main focus of the class is in gaining more flexibility while relaxing the mind. The first part of the class focuses on the flow; warm-up (spine, hips), core connection.
The second part goes deeper into the stretch. Most poses are held for 3-4 minutes targeting the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, joints and bones that are not normally exercised very much in the more active style of yoga (Vinyasa). PNF helps by training the nervous system to relax. Most poses also stretch the meridians in the body, helping prana (“chi” in Chinese medicine) flow through the body. The major meridian corresponds to specific human organs.
Desire is of primary importance because it addresses the intention of each student. It challenges the student to look inward; to transcend mere exercise and to use the yoga practice as a means to celebrate one’s interconnectedness with all life. When desire is combined with knowledge, of the correct alignment of the body and of the postures, the student confronts the choice to take action. The right choice is the one that is shri “that which is life-enhancing”. It enables students to consistently soar to new levels, not only on their mats, but also in their lives.
The aim of a yoga teacher is to help the student reveal his or her own potential. At Pole Sessions Manchester, individuals are offered a choice and a challenge and experience new levels of joy and well-being so that students undertake a powerful transformative journey through yoga classes.
What you’ll do in our Yoga Classes
The yoga class in Manchester will start with 5 minutes if relaxation to ensure your mind and body is relaxed for the yoga class ahead. You will then partake in some light stretches to warm your body for some of the poses and stretches you will be doing in your class. Many people think that a yoga class is just stretching. But while stretching is certainly involved, yoga is really about creating balance in the body through developing both strength and flexibility. This is done through the performance of poses or postures, each of which has specific physical benefits. The poses can be done quickly in succession, creating heat in the body through movement (Vinyasa-style yoga) or more slowly to increase stamina and perfect the alignment of the pose.
Yoga newbie?
If you’ve never tried Yoga before you might be a little nervous about what to expect.
We advise that you start with a level 1 class where you can get comfortable with the basics, take your time working on your technique and build up to more challenging poses slowly.
What to wear
Loose gym style clothes are best with trainers or bare feet, as you need to be able to move around. Please do not wear anything that you will be too hot in!

Yoga for Your Health
Yoga is therapeutic for many injuries and medical conditions. Yoga therapy can provide relief from stress, as well as many other mental and physical ailments, but always consult your doctor before beginning a new yoga therapy.
Yoga for Everybody
One of the great things about yoga is that it is so adaptable to varying populations. Whatever your age, sex, or level of fitness, there is a yoga for you.
Class etiquette
Please be on time Arriving a few minutes early to class gives you the opportunity to meditate or stretch and prepare yourself for your class.
Please sign in every time Please make this a part of your practice. Sign in legibly as to ensure that we get an accurate count of all students.
Remove your shoes Upon entering Pole Sessions as a way of respecting the ancient tradition of the East and to provide a clean environment in which to practice.
Inform your teacher about any injuries before class begins This is the only way for the teacher to know how to adjust you and give modifications.
Practice on an empty stomach To ensure to get all of the benefits of your yoga practice, we recommend that you refrain from eating 3 hours before class time. Also, try not to drink water during class. This will maintain the internal heat of your body as well as keep the asana room clear of bottles. Drink plenty of room temperature water after class.
Purchase a yoga mat Although Pole Sessions provides yoga mats for use; they are primarily for new students. We recommend, for your own personal hygiene, that you purchase your own mat. Owning your own mat is a commitment to your practice.
